Hi Mxxxxxxy,
Thanks for using Health care magic for your health concern.
I have read it & understood the problem.
Recurrent skin swelling in XXXXXXX citizens needs to be thoroughly screened out & treated with expert care- to avoid recurrence & it's advance to more severe form which can lead to generalized spread through blood .I fully agree & appreciate your health consciousness.
* Recurrence of skin infection in leg can be mostly caused by-
- Recurrent foot injuries- cuts, cracks in foot or heel / underlying chronic skin problem like fungal infections on leg , recurrent nail infections, eczema , psoriasis, long standing infected wound( recurrent cellulitis- with swollen, red, warm & painful skin) Or erysipelas( skin infection with blistered red skin along with fever, pain, lymph nodes)
- Uncontrolled/ long standing diabetes, some times liver problems.
-Problems blood circulation in leg( varicose veins/ deep vein thrombosis)
- Bacterial resistance to medicines given / insufficient antibiotic courses.
* Prevention of repeated cellulitis -
- Through medical check up to exclude /finding any of above health conditions followed by it's specific management along with skin lesion for a sufficiently prolonged time to cure it fully.
- Altered leg care to prevent repeated infections/ injuries to foot - protective clothing like socks, pads/ shoes or sleepers in house .Regular pedicure treatment( keep legs & feet clean , moist & healthy)
- regular leg muscle exercises to avoid vascular problem.
- Having a healthy diet with needful caloric intake with ample of fresh vegetables, fruits, salads aimed at good general health & needful reduction of weight.
* In this context you need to consult a general physician for general health check up for finding underlying basic focus of the problem & it's management.
Consultation of an expert skin specialist for skin lesion ( selection of suitable antibiotic( with needful culture & sensitivity test ) & assessing the length of it's intake . Regular follow ups & continuation of treatment till complete cure is essential for freedom from recurrence.
I have mentioned precautions in general- please follow those which are recommended by treating doctor after examining you.

Brief Answer:
Blood clot in leg vessel needs careful management.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mhramesey,
Thanks for the information. Now the cause of your problem is clear ( as guessed in earlier discussion ) & it's management easy.
Once it's sure to be a blood clot...
* It can be either in superficial vein thrombosis( clot ) in leg vein
( thrombophlebitis)- more possible in your case following recurrent skin infections you had , could have affected underlying vein to form a clot ( thrombus ) there.( signified by pain , redness& swelling at the site of blood clot along with doctor's assertion for diagnosis after examination )
- A superficial vein blood clot can be easily controlled & treated well with rest/ local warming or application of thrombophobe ointment/ anti inflammatory drugs & antibiotics - ... for cure of the basic infection of leg ...( by choosing proper antibiotic - with culture & sensitivity test as per need-) for sufficiently long course , under care of the treating doctor.
* BUT it also can be also be Deep vein thrombosis which needs to be excluded. ( specially if you are overweight, you have family history of DVT, you are taking Hormone replacement therapy, smoking. Have inflammatory bowel disease or have weak heart)... And as deep vein clot if dislodged..(. can travel to more vital organs like lung, heart, brain& cause serious complication)...* DVT can be diagnosed by detailed physical examination by doctor & supported by Ultra sonographic scanning. This type of blood clot needs to be taken care of under expert cardiovascular physician / Managed well to avoid it's recurrence in future by changed life style along with medicines as per doctors advise.
* Follow up changed life style for both the condition are more or less same-
- Keep moving while sitting for long hours(working, travelling )- take a break & walk, stretch yourself every 2 to 3 hours... to help pumping of blood to heart from legs.
- Use compression stockings - if advised so.
- Try to loose weight . Regular exercises- brisk walking, cycling, swimming, etc.
+ After an acute attack of DVT -exercises need to be started with doctors permission & guidance,
- Eat healthy diet ( lot of vegetables, fruits, salads. Avoiding fast food, alcohol, caffeine ). Drink lot of water & hydrating liquids.( less of sugar, caffeine. alcohol )
- Stop smoking/ hormonal replacement therapy , if you are taking ( consult the prescribing doctor )
-Take care of health of skin ( keep it clean, moist & infection free )
Thus with expert's advise & follow up by self care you would get rid of the problem.
I hope that satisfies you. Any follow up query is welcome-
Thank you & wish you a fast recovery.
