The best home based management of UTI is to drink plenty of water. That helps in flushing out the infection with the urine.

I would like ask specifically if the urine has been tested for routine microscopy. If not, I would strongly insist for it to be done. If the pus cell count is high, it would require to be treated with antibiotics.
