Brief Answer:
Treatment is fine. Keep in mind these instructions.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The treatment seems to be on the right lines.

Are his stool habits normal? Does he have any constipation or diarrhea?
What antacid has been prescribed?

I usually advice Pantoprazole 40mg or Omeprazole 20mg twice a day half an hour before meals. This should be able to alleviate pain due to acidity or Gastritis. Also he should cut down consumption of hot foods, spices, oily or fried food and stop smoking if he does. Tea or coffee intake also should be stopped. After meals he should not lie down or sleep immediately. A short walk or staying upright for at least half an hour after meals is advised.

If these measures and the medicines do not give relief over the next week or ten days then I would suggest an Upper GI Endoscopy. You can discuss that with your Doctor or consult a Gastroenterologist.

Take care and do let us know if there are any other queries that have been left unanswered.

Brief Answer:
High carbohydrate diet and rest

Detailed Answer:
Hi. Good to hear from you.
If there is swelling on the liver then no medicines will cure it. However, he should be given food with high carbohydrates and Cap Bcomplex or Zevit is what I usually prescribe. It usually resolves over a period of 3 to 4 weeks. So do not worry.
Take care and wish good health to you and near and dear ones.
