Brief Answer:
should be balanced diet

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
It is advisable to start semi liquids for next 2 months, semisolids from 9 months.
1.Number of other feeds
For next 2 months 2 to 4 other feeds apart from breastfeeding.
Later increase by one for every month.

2. Type
To start with you can try boiled apple and vegetables. You can also give rice gruel or cerelac or nestum along with dhal.Ragi can be started after 7 months.
Feeds should be balanced ie.
One feed of cerelas and pulses and one feed of vegetables and boiled apple. Add oil to each feed after a month.
By 7 months you can try soft homefoods like idli kitchdi upma etc.
By 10 months you can add boiled yellow egg nonveg soups etc.
Avoid salt and sugar for first year.
3. Breastfeeding
Continue breastfeeding till 2 years if possible.
Decrease by one feed every month and increase other foods by same frequency.

Wishing your child good health
Regards
Dr Arun
