Brief Answer:
Superficial second degree burn generally does not scar

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar(dermatologist). I ahve gone through your query and I have noted your concern

Yes, it is advisable to dress the wound not only to prevent secondary infection and hastern healing and thereby prevent/ reduce scarring.

Second degree superficial burns usually heal with no scarring or very superficial scarring. There may be pigment changes e.g hypo or hyperpigmentation.

Once the wound has healed/ re-epithelialised further treatment would depend on the end result i.e complications. The most common complication is pigment changes which can be hypo or hyperpigmentation or combination of both.

Pigmentation usually returns with time if there was depigmentation following a burn. A moderately potent topical steroid cream or tacrolimus ointment may be used to hasten re-pigmentation.

Sometimes there may be hyperpigmentation following a burn which can also be reduced with a moderately potent topical steroid cream.

For now the focus should be on allowing the wound to heal/ re-epilthialise. It should take around 2-3 weeks to re-epithelialise and then you can review with a dermatologist to manage the complications.

Becosule syp is usually given along with an antibiotic as a precaution against risk of alteration of intestinal bacterial flora and antibiotic induced diarrhea. It is not absolutely necessary but it would be better to give it while antibiotic is being given.

Brief Answer:
Approximately 2 weeks

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Of course Biatain Ag dressing would give better results. Dressing needs to be done till the wound gets re-epithelialized i.e covered with skin which would take approximately 2 weeks.
