Question: Doctor any other anitibiotic other than azithromycin to treat nipple infection? Does this infection cause low grade fever around 99.2, thanku doc

Yes Nipple Infection can cause low grade to high grade fever.

Regarding the choice of antibiotics it depends on the treating doctor and the extent of infection. Though I personally feel Azithromycin is not a good choice for Nipple Infection, it depends of the local prevailing trend which the doctor will be aware of .

If you were my patient I would have suggested Amoxycillin+ Clavunate. You can talk to your doctor about this antibiotic and get prescription.

If there is any discharge from nipple then I advise you get a test called Pus Culture Sensitivity and revert back with reports.

Doc its not spontaneous discharge , its only if pressed and its yellowish in colour, a small dot like, does it require a consultation or i go ahaed with ur advised antibiotic?

The reason is trauma to nipple . It could be due to scratching or sucking or biting .
