Brief Answer:
B.P medication cant be taken / advised OTC

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome

I appreciate your concern

Anti hypertensive medication need to be taken daily to maintain blood pressure. Alternative medication can be advised e.g chlorthalidone and spironolactone but they can not be obtained over thr counter. No medication for blood pressure can be taken over the counter. You would require either an alternative medication or a refill.

I'm asking if there is a homeopathic alternative for this type of medication. I've been on this medication for years, and wondering why I swell up so much when I don't take it. Is this indicative of some kind of kidney issues?

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.

The medication contains a diuretic i.e hydrochlorothiazide. If there is significant swelling/ edema then it can be changed to furosemide. I do not recommend homeopathic treatment to my patients and in your case would first go for the allopathic alternatives, first. There must be a cause for the excess fluid retention. It can be related to renal impairment. You would require lab work including LFTs, Renal function tests including Creatinine and blood urea, electrolytes, urinalysis , CBC and an ultrasound based on the fluid build up / distribution.
