Question: At a young age I was started on ritalin which was when my parents had started me in mental. Then I switched to adderall. Another point in my life I switched doctor's and she put me on concerta which was short lived. At the time I was on active duty in the army and I switched doctor's again and she put me back on adderall which I was at 30xr once a day and 50 instant twice a day. After I was medically retired due to an injury in Iraq I switched over to the VA system. I've been fighting with the doctor there to put me on something. She says they don't have adderall there, that they use something else of that nature but that it doesn't matter. She thinks that it because I was found yo have TBI the meds would affect it. ...... But I was doing fine until I had to switch doctor's again. My question is can I just go to the local county mental XXXXXXX center that carries the med (Adderall) that the VA doesn't carry and just continue seeing my VA provider for 10 minutes 4 times a year? I'm a general manager for a resturant and I need focus.
I still find it amusing the Army Pharmacy carries it but the VA doesn't.

Brief Answer:
Adderall will work best for you.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns.

Adderall is a potent drug for ADHD, even more than Ritalin and concerta in my opinion.
If you were doing good on Adderall, I think that would work best for you.

Change of drug to an alternative one might not help you to focus.

I would suggest you to visit your local country mental health centre to get your medicines.

You must keep in touch with your VA provider. Should you have any medical problem in future, It would be taken care there.

Hope this helps.
Regards.
