I purchsed Sun Ray Health Magnesium Chloride (200g) in powder form with suggested serve; 'As directed by your HealthCare Professional' The naturapath who provided the magnesium was uncertain of quantities who suggested a very small amount mixed in water. Please can you advise. I have previously taken magnesium in capsule form.
Also are there side effects? At the same time I commenced Oxycontin tablets (two) and had severe vomitting.

Brief Answer:
Suggested up to 400mg of Magnesium per day

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am not sure how much each scoop of elemental magnesium is present in this supplement (Sun Ray).

However you can calculate for yourself. You can go from 320 mg to 400mg/day. E.g Each scoop has 100mg of elemental magnesium, then you should go for 3.5 to 4 scoops per day divided twice a day. So each time you can take 2 scoops with water.

Side effect is diarrhoea but that occurs if you have more than 700mg/day. Oxycontin is a pain suppressant it may not interact with Magnesium. However let there be one hour gap between them.

Hope this helps.

How many mg are in a teaspoon? Do you know what the different forms of Magnesium are best suited for? I understood the chloride was for joint/muscle pain.

Brief Answer:
Magnesium

Detailed Answer:
You should read the label on the product to know how much mg is in teaspoon. Every product varies. I am unable to find on the internet.

Magnesium is important and not its compounds. This magnesium compounds are used in medicines to deliver the elemental Magnesium to human body like Magnesium chloride and citrate are commonly used in medicines. They are hydrolysed to deliver the metal. Magnesium hydroxide used as milk of magnesia.

the magnesium container merely says as directed by your health care provider who was uncertain, hence my initial question to you. Based on your answer if 230 mg to 400 mg/day I then needed to know how many mg in a teaspoon as there is no scoop provided with this product.

Brief Answer:
Watch product tin for nutritient info

Detailed Answer:
Ok, every product comes with this information called, Each 5mg of the product contains ___ of elemental Magnesium. So I wanted you to watch that information on the product tin. You should take this with food as it may cause diarrhoea.

5mg is 1 tea spoon
15mg is 1 Table spoon.

If you are not able to find you can reach the nearby pharmacy with the tin and ask the pharmacist the dose. Else you can take a photograph of the tin from all side and I can read it for you.
