I finally surrendered to the dr by taking losartan. started with 25 mgs, no changes, she increased to 50 mgs no changes now im on 75mgs and only been there for 2 days but no changes. Im still watching my diet, no salt, no meat no nothing. What is going wrong

Brief Answer:
Rule out secondary cause for hypertension.

Detailed Answer:
Hello there,
Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor service'.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

Your blood pressure is not being controlled with increasing dose of Losartan. So before any further modification in medication, rule out secondary cause for hypertension like renal causes, endocrine causes or any other cardiovascular causes.

I suggest you investigate with serum sodium, pottasium estimation, urine protein test, urine VMA estimation, serum urea and creatinine estimation, EKG, doppler flow study for renovascular hypertension and serum TSH estimation.

You can be given advise for these investigations according to need. For physical examination you can consult cardiologist or physician.

If no secondary cause for hypertension present then you have to start with two antihypertensive medication like Losartan plus amlodipine.

Kindly acknowledge me with your latest blood pressure value so that I can assess severity as well.

Maintain healthy life style with low salt diet.

Hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Best regards.
