Question
Hello,
I am 31 years old male.
Hair fall problem started with me when I was 27 years old and as per dermatology consultation I was on a medicine process as:
*FInax tablet
*Follihair tablet
*Mintop Forte (Minoxidil) - 5% lotion.
After 4 months on the above medicines, as per doctor's advice I stopped taking oral medicines but continued with the Mintop Forte (Minoxidil) - 5% lotion till May, 2013.
This lotion really helped me a lot in hair fall controlling but during the period April, 2013, I started again hair fall quite badly and as due to I am availability in a new city so I consulted here a new dermatologist and as per his advice I am on the below medicines from XXXXXXX 2013 to till date
*Finast tablet (Once in morning)
*Follhair tablet (Twice in day)
*Bitozed Forte tablet (Twice in day)
*Minoxilid & Aminexil Topicial solution 5% - Hair XXXXXXX Lotion (Once in morning of each alternate day like monday, wednesday, friday, sunday)
*Minoxilid Topicial solution UPS 5% - Chymotra Lotion (Once in morning of each alternate day like tuesday, thusday, saturday)
*Plantur 39 Lotion (Phyto - Caffeine Tonic) (Once in night of each alternate day like monday, wednesday, friday, sunday)
*Aplecin Lotion (Once in night of each alternate day like tuesday, thusday, saturday)
*Biominnox A DD Shampoo (Recomended to use daily but using weekly due to cold allergy)
By following the above routine, I am still losing subsequent amount of hair on each day, so my questions are:
*Is my current medicine routine is good enough to stop hair loss?
*Is my current medicine routine help me to re-grow the hair or it only to stop the hair fall?
*I am on this medicine routine since a month but only one thing I have noticed that my hair quality get improved by means of color as blank and little better in thickness but hair fall is still on. So am I in the process of improvement?
*As I have mentioned that, I been using Mintop Forte (Minoxidil) - 5% lotion for a quite long time, so stopping the use of Mintop Forte (Minoxidil) - 5% lotion causing the current hair fall? but the some of the lotions(Hair XXXXXXX and Chymotra), which I am using currently are of same compositions as the Mintop Forte (Minoxidil) - 5% lotion has?
*In use of the current medicine routine, how long it normally take to see the positive results as sense of stop hair fall and regain good quality & quantity of hair?
*Any specific comment on the use of Finast tablets, as I found some information that, it makes some impact on the sexual life?
*Is my above medicine routine is going to be a permanent practice to control hair fall?
*Any specific advice on hair fall control and gain healthy hair re-growth?

Thanks,
XXXXX

Hello XXXXXXX
Welcome to healthcare magic

* Your current medicine routine is good enough to stop hair fall.
I personally feel that too many good medicines are prescribed simultaneously. This is my personal opinion. Chymotra and hairjoy both have the same components and in my opinion Minoxidil plus aminexil is good enough. Again Alpecin and Plantur 39 have the same active ingredients. Again Bitozed forte and Follihair has the same active ingredients. This regime is too cumbersome for you, but works nevertheless.

* Your current medicine routine will help to re-grow the hair and stop the hair fall.

* Improvement of hair texture and color is a good sign and you are in the process of improvement

* Stopping minoxidil solution can cause hair fall, but changing the brand of minoxidil solution will not cause hair fall.

* You should wait for atleast 3 months for these medicines to take effect. Hair fall will decrease first, then thickness will increase and even new hairs can grow from existing salvageable follicles.

* Finasteride 1 mg tablets are approved for treatment of baldness. Side effects reported are loss of libido, decrease in ejaculatory volume, impotence, gynecomastia, depression etc, but the incidence of these are very less and all the side effects except gynecomastia are reversible once you stop the medicine. According to me it is definitely worth taking the tablet as it gives good response.

* This routine is quite intensive, I would advice you to continue this routine till you notice improvement following which you can maintain only on Minoxidil plus aminexil lotion and finasteride tablets.

* Take less stress, have a healthy lifestyle, eat a balanced diet XXXXXXX in biotin and proteins like nuts, leafy vegetables, milk and egg.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any clarifications I will be happy to help.
Take care

Follow-up: Suffer from hair fall. Prescribed FInax and Follihair tablet. Suggest ways to control hair growth and hair re-growth? 3 days later
Hello Sir,

Thanks a lot for the reply. It really helpful to me for understanding my queries.
Today, I have revisited to the doctor as I have completed the course of 1 month. I explained him the medicines are helped me positively to improve my hair texture and color but hair fall is still active as I am losing hair on a daily basis so badly and my scalp also started visible due to low available hair.
He replied me that, it is the sign of re growth. When new hairs are about to come from the same root, they pushes the existing hair and that the reason the hair fall is happening.
Additionally, he changed the complete course with new medicines but they are of same composition as the old medicines used to be, like:

Old medicines:

New medicine for 2 months:
*Finast tablet: (Once in morning)
*Curlzvit tablet: (Twice in day)
*Juene tablet: (Twice in day)
*Amexidil lotion (Minoxidil 5.0% w/v & Amnexil 1.5% w/v Topicial Solution): (Once in night of each alternate day like Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday)
*Pilogro plus lotion (Minoxidil Topicial Solution UPS 5%): (Once in night of each alternate day like Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday)
**Biominnox A DD Shampoo (Recommended to use daily)

I am not able to understand, is it really needed to change these medicines in the course of a month and that of same compositions related to the old medicines? So my queries are:

**Your feedback or suggestions on this whole matter? Shall I proceed to start this new routine of medicines for next 2 months?
**Is the new medicines going to be useful for me to stop hair fall and re growth of new hairs?
**This time, he did not advice any lotion to use in morning, so can I combine Mintop Forte lotion or Mintop 10 with the current medicine routine to use only at morning? (As I was using Mintop Forte lotion from the past around 4 years and that resulted really well but I stopped using that for previous month only to continue the new medicines)
**I had already good experience with Mintop Forte, but Mintop 10 seems to be more strong and efficient on hair fall, so please advice, which one from Mintop Forte or Mintop 10 will be best for me at present scenario?
**How long normally the duration needed to start noticing of stop hair fall and re growth of new hairs?

Please advice and guide me on this matter and it getting quite complicated and out of my understanding.

Thanks & regards,
XXXXX

Welcome back XXXXXXX

** I think that it was not required to change these medicines after a month. However as the composition of the medicines are the same it would not cause any harm. You may proceed with these for next 2 months.

** New medicines work in the same way as the old, as the components are the same, only company is different, and yes it will help stop hair fall and re growth of new hairs.

** Minoxidil standard dose is 5% 1 ml twice a day, therefore I will recommend you to use either Amexidil or Pilogro preferably Amexidil 1 ml in the mornings daily. Pilogro and mintop forte have the same medicines, but different brand, but as psychologically you are very keen on continuing Mintop forte you may use that 1 ml in the mornings and continue the rest as advised. Your peace of mind and confidence in the medicine is as important for improvement in hair fall.

** Mintop 10 is not yet approved by US FDA as treatment for baldness even though lot of doctors are using it. I will recommend you Mintop forte 5% as I like following guidelines.

** You need to wait for another 2 months to notice some improvement.
Take less stress, do relaxation exercises like yoga, have balance diet and don't keep thinking about the hair fall, it will improve, you are on the right track.

Hope I have answered your query.
Take care
