Question: Sir, I am a 62 years old Male. I am diabetic with my fasting sugar being 125 & PP being 160 on average for the last 2 years after taking medicines. Lately though i want to have sex, but i have no erection. Even with titillation by my wife, it fails to stand. Have i become impotent because of old age?

Brief Answer:
Old age and long standing diabetes can cause erectile dysfunction

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Erectile dysfunction is quite common around the age of sixty. Long standing diabetes can worsen the condition. It is due to the weakness of nerves caused by age related changes and diabetes. Anxiety and depression may also play a major role.
As a first line management you can take VitaminB12 supplements to improve the general health of your neurons. Avoid unwanted stress and anxiety. Make sure that your blood sugar level is well within the normal range.
Lifestyle changes like routine physical exercises like swimming and always maintain healthy body weight.
If symptoms persist you can consult a urologist and get evaluated. In that case you might require drugs like sildenafil.
Wishing all the best.
