Question: Since my concussion (approx. 3 years ago ) I have had a bit of ringing in my left ear. Yesterday I noticed my ear feels plugged and the ringing seems to be a bit worse?? I don't have a cold or anything and its like I can hear myself talk, it sounds echo and my ear is ringing a bit more. It feels plugged like you need to yawn or if you're in a plane and need to yawn to clear it??? Not sure why it feels this way? Not sure what to do?

Detailed Answer:
Hii. Can you tell me more water about your concussion? Is it just associated with me and any giddiness or hearing loss?At many times injury of the ear can cause nerve weakness and result in sensorineural hearing loss. When there is hearing loss due to nerve weakness then the inner sounds get more prominent. This nerve weakness may be due to injury to the cochlea which is the main part involved in hearing. In that case it is very common to have tinnitus. So you should do a hearing test me and if needed you can take hearing aid which will improve hearing and decrease the tinnitus. If you want are feeling ear plugged then it may be fluid accumulation in your middle ear or due to nerve weakness or due to acute upper respiratory tract infection affecting the nose. You start taking fluticasone nasal spray, steam inhalation and do valsalva manouvre. It it doesn't resolve this with that then you need to do a hearing test and treatment will be planned accordingly. Please review if you have any queries.
