Should One Continue Taking Xet CR Plus 25 Capsule For Severe Depression?

Question: Hi Doctor, my father 71 years of age was having depression since.long time and being treated by several doctors... last year in November he visited doctor in XXXXXXX and prescribed cap xet cr plus 25. he has been taking this medicine since then and there are no problems . Now please advise should we continue this medicine or should change. being doctor in another city we can't visit him.

From the available description it appears that he is suffering from recurrent depressive disorder. The disorder itself needs long term treatment including life long treatment.

I also take this opportunity to advice you to never take a medicine without supervision of doctor. Xet Cr is prescription only medicine and should be taken under continous supervision of doctor so there are no untoward effects.

Thanks for follow up.

It can be taken if there are no side effects but I feel XET CR will be better option as I clonazepam should be avoided as far as possible after 60 years of age. (XET CR PLUS contains paroxetine and clonazepam).
