Should I Go For Tugain In Foam Or Solution Form For Severe Hair Fall?

default
Posted on Fri, 13 May 2016
Question: Hi I am a male 41 years old based in a decently polluted city beside the sea. Recently I have started to experience hair fall in loads. I think it's either water/pollution/age/stress so was researching online. Came up with some names like Tugain 5 and 10 and Mintop/Rogaine/Minoxidil. I have very long hair.

Objective is to stop hair fall and regrow hair slowly.

So question is should I be using

Tugain 5 or 10? Solution or Foam?
Or Should I go for Mintop Solution?
Or Rogaine/Minoxidil (Foam/Solution)
I also read about Propecia tablets with some side effects so should one go for both Tabs and Solution Foam?
Should one use Hair Oil? I am planning to get some herbal oil.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Upload pictures of the scalp

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at Healthcaremagic
Basically tugain, mintop and rogaine all contain the same ingredient that is minoxidil.
Minoxidil is recommended for the treatment of male pattern baldness.
I would recommend you to upload the pictures of your scalp so that I can ascertain the pattern of your hair loss and guide you accordingly.

Brief Answer:
Male pattern baldness, start with minoxidil and finasteride

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I have reviewed the attached photographs and according to me you have started with male pattern baldness.

It is hormone dependant hair loss occuring in genetically predisposed individuals. Pollution doesn't have much role in this although stress and age aggravate it.

In such cases I recommend my patients to start applying minoxidil solution 5 percent on the affected areas of the scalp.

The dose is 1 ml twice daily.

Many brands are available in the market: rogaine, mintop, tugain. All are equally effective. One can choose from any of the above.

Along with this I recommend them to take tablet finasteride 1 mg daily for better results.

Finasteride can lead to erectile dysfunction and loss of libido in 1-3 percent of the individuals but it improves while on treatment and even reverses on discontinuation of treatment.

For best results both tablet and minoxidil should be used together.

The tablet and the solution is continued for 4-5 months to notice any significant improvement and for atleast 1 year to notice maximum response.

Hair oil doesn't have much role in this alopecia but if you want to apply hair oil go for coconut oil.

Also don't tie the pony tail very tightly.

I think discussion has a limit of 3 days but I am not very sure. You need to contact customer care team to enquire about it.

Regards
Dr Asmeet
