Question: I am taking iron for a deficiency, and my stool is not turning black or dark green. Instead, it's dark brown. Should I be worried that I'm not absorbing the iron?

Brief Answer:
No, it is perfectly normal

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

It is perfectly normal for stool to turn dark brown when taking iron supplements. If you are not sure that you are absorping the iron, simply have your hemoglobin measured at your doctor's. If it is normal, you are likely absorping the iron appropriately.

Hope this helps.
