Question: dr -

1. I am 5 feet 8 inches and I weight 177 pounds; at my current weight I have moderate sleep apnea; I do not use a CPAP machine; 10 pounds ago I did not have sleep apnea
2. I am scheduled to have a colonoscopy in 1 month
3. should I be concerned about the sedative used in colonoscopy AFTER I return home; could the sedative endanger my well being, by causing an increase in my sleep apnea symptoms?
4. do you have any recommendations so I can avoid these problems?

Brief Answer:
Untreated sleep apnea patient is always at risk for arrhythmia.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I can understand your concern.
Honestly speaking, untreated sleep apnea patient is always at risk for arrhythmia.
So you will be at risk.
So I will suggest to start CPAP machine as soon as possible.
And also use after colonoscopy.
And after surgery focus on weight loss by diet and exercise. This will also help in sleep apnea.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health.
Thanks.
