Hi!,

Thank you for posting the query,

Your question is a very good one and I'll try to provide you with some information and recommendations regarding what is going on.

There are lot of reasons for not having a beard hair growth at this age. Many a times it is just genetic ,since as you said even your father had a delayed hair growth of beard.

Apart from being genetic ,there are various hormonal reasons also which may lead to this problem. It is basically the testosteron hormone which stimulates growth of facial hair .This hormone is secreted by the testis,so if there is hypogonadism then it may lead to delayed growth of hair.

There are centers in the brain also which may lead to similar hormonal problem.

In such conditions there are other features also which may develop like decreased muscle mass, lack of deepening of voice(feminine voice),impaired growth of penis , enlargement of male breast (gynecomastia) ,decreased sex drive etc.

In such cases one needs to get properly investigated also.

Treatment depends upon the cause of the problem. There are various forms of testosteron(oral, injection, sulingual ) available which are usually prescribed in such conditions. These medicines should be taken strictly under doctors supervision.

Apart from this, the one you have already used is minoxidil solution .This helps to increase the blood supply of the skin and thus helps converting very fine hair to thick hair. The minimum time required to show some response is at-least 2 months. So one should continue this for at least 6-8 months .

I am afraid I may not be able to write a brand name of any cream or tablet , as it would be unethical and inappropriate to prescribe you any scheduled drugs without doing a proper clinical examination(which can be done only in person).Under medical laws we doctors are not supposed to suggest any trade name of any medicine in the net.We can give only our expert opinions and guide you in course of your treatment. Its just like giving a second opinion.I hope you would understand my limitations here.

I would advise you to consult a competent endocrinologist for proper physical examination, evaluation and to get treatment accordingly .In case one finds that its just genetic ,then probably it would be just wait and watch ,rather than taking any hormonal medicines.

Hope this answers your query. Should you have additional concern regarding the same ,I would be happy to address it.

Dr.Bharat chawda

Hi!,

Thank you for writing back,

Since you don't have a feminine voice and other features are also normal, probably your condition is just genetic. Also there are certain racial groups where facial hair is delayed and is less than others.

If you can consult a endocrinologist at your place then he would be able to take a more rational decision and balance your need & requirement of hormonal medicine in your case. Hormonal medicines are not required in all the cases, if you have other features too then only you might be given any medicine.

I'm really sorry to say this, but it is not possible to talk to me directly over the phone, any correspondence between you and me will be through XXXXXXX If you wish our doctors will be able to talk to you if you give them your contact number.

Wishing you good health.

Hi!,

Thank you for writing back,

I am extremely sorry ,I may not be able to prescribe any medicine on net as this is unethical and against medical laws. You need to understand that these medicines are hormonal and cannot be prescribed without consulting a patient personally.

It is also against our forum to prescribe any scheduled drug.

I can understand that you need these medicines desperately but without understanding the side effects one should not go for these medicines. An endocrinologist would be a better person to prescribe these medicines but only after examining you clinically. And if you ask me personally I don't feel the need of hormonal medicine at the moment ,instead minoxidil can be used for long over the area.

Even hormonal medicines are not magical and may not give any instant result. There are certain side effects also like hair fall and pimples on face apart from hormonal issues.

Please don't feel shy going to a doctor ,they are going to help you only.

I hope you would understand the seriousness of these medicines and if you have any additional concerns I would be happy to address them.

Hi,

Thanks for the follow up.

You need to understand that we doctors cannot prescribe hormonal medicines to patients on this online model. Today’s research indicates that a move toward individualizing the dosing of hormonal agents is warranted and it can happen only after physical consultation and explaining them before hand. The doctor and patient set realistic expectations with each treatment instituted.

And above that I don't see the need of hormonal supplements in your case either, as you seems to have a genetic reason for reduced hair growth.

As far as test are concerned you can get a serum testosterone level done to begin with.

Kindly XXXXXXX an Endocrinologist for the tests and proper analysis.

Wish you good health.

Hello.

Doctors don't prescribe medicines in online forums. Neither should patients follow any drugs without consulting the doctor personally.

There are times when any mistake can occur while understanding what has been prescribed . At times the trade names available at our country might not be available at your country. Even it could be misinterpreted by the chemist fellow by some other drug.

Dosages vary from patient to patient, depending upon the severity and body weight. A clinical assessment is thus required.

It was very easy on your part to ask for the dosage and the prescribe a medicine. But it is equally difficult for the doctor to answer such questions and prescribe a medicine. Certain hormonal medicines are even banned in certain countries or may be only dispensed with proper prescription letter.

Our motive through the website is to advise you regarding your problem and guide you what should be done in such situations, and I am sure that was conveyed to you.

I hope you would understand this limitation. I apologize for not able to help you on that matter.

If you are really not satisfied with the answer and need the refund, you can forward your request to the customer care. Surely they will be able to help you on that.

Wish you good health.

Regards,

Hi,

Our main motive by answering questions is patient satisfaction .And we answers very few selected questions for the matter. We don't want any of the drug advised to harm our patient or have any sort of side effects .

Since the medicine you were asking requires strict follow up and supervision by a doctor ,I personally thought it would be good if you can XXXXXXX a endocrinologist at your place for the prescription.

But I thank you for cancelling it. I tried my best to assist you this time but it was not complete.

I hope I assist you better the next time.

Thanks again for participating in this discussion.
