Brief Answer:
your HIV risk is negligible

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to ASK A DOCTOR through HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
First of all, in spite of your friend's activities, there is every possibility that he would be free from HIV infection.
Even if we consider him as HIV positive individual and if he is on ART drugs regularly, and his viral load would have been suppressed, then he will no longer can transmit the infection to others.
If we consider a situation that he is HIV positive, having sore or abrasion over his finger and touched the healing nasal surgical wound of yours, then the chance of getting HIV infection is negligible only.

Just imagine, many HIV positive individuals are living in families with their HIV non reactive family members for years without getting infected. People caring HIV positive children in orphanages for years, remain nonreactive for HIV in spite of their higher risk. I (along with my paramedical staffs) am treating HIV positive individuals for more than 32 years. I remain nonreactive till date.
So, you need not worry.

Brief Answer:
HIV risk is negligible only.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
If your friend would be HIV reactive and if he had active bleeding at the time by which he handled your nose with partially healing nose, then we cannot rule out the possibility risk of HIV transmission. But all these are all odd possibilities. Otherwise the risk is negligible only.

Brief Answer:
Once blood gets dried virus will die.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
As long as the blood shed gets dried, virus would be viable. This depends upon the quantity of blood, time after shedding and the climate etc. If it is just a stain, it will get dried soon and became noninfectious.
