Recently, I've Been Struggling With Bladder Issues. I Frequently Feel

Question: Recently, I've been struggling with bladder issues. I frequently feel strong urges to urinate, especially in places like meetings or long trips. Even if I just used the restroom, I struggle to get through a 30 minute meeting. Once out though, I don't feel the urge to go. I also have strong urges to crap randomly. This has not been an issue for me before. It makes it where I don't want to travel and it affects my work. What can I do?

Brief Answer:
Do you take any medication?

Detailed Answer:
Hi Jacec,

I am sorry to hear about your troubles. Do you take any medication? Some types of medicine can affect urination and defecation.

The symptoms you describe could be overactive bladder syndrome, possibly in conjunction with constipation (or similar). Are your stools regular and soft? Do you experience pain when urinating? The first thing I would do, was to get a urinalysis for UTI.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I do not take any medication. I use topical Rogaine. No pain when urinating. My stools are normal. I used to have no problems with this. About a year ago, I began to struggle with urges to urinate when in a meeting, interview, or movie. When I think I can't go, I have to go. But it also affects me outside of work when traveling or away from a restroom. I don't think it's just in my head, but it also feels like I should be able to control this

Brief Answer:
Do flow analysis

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,

It could be urge incontinence or overactive bladder. The best way to tell is by flow measurements when you urinate. Most urological outpatient clinics can do this.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have further questions.
