Question: Please see cervical spine report. I have intermitent shoulder ache and ache below breast mid chest sometimes a little ache on the same plane as chest on backside just below scapula. All aches are mild and intermitent.

My heart is good and feels more achy or muscular. Some say this can be caused by some of my neck issues. What say you Dr. Thanks

Procedure: MRI Cervical Spine wo IV

History: CERVICAL SPINAL STENOSIS

Comparison: 6/10/17.

Procedure Comments: MRI of the cervical spine was performed without
intravenous contrast.

Findings:

Alignment: Mild reversal the normal cervical lordosis.

Bone marrow: Normal for age.

Vertebrae: Degenerative changes are seen at the atlantoaxial articulation.

C2-C3: Posterior disc bulges seen asymmetric towards the left with left
greater than right uncovertebral arthrosis and mild bilateral neural foraminal
stenosis. AP thecal sac diameter measures 8-9 mm.

C3-C4: Posterior disc osteophyte complex with uncovertebral and facet
arthrosis. 4 mm AP this diameter appears without significant change. Some
subligamentous extension of the disc material is seen. Moderate bilateral
neural foraminal stenosis. AP thecal sac diameter is 8 mm not significantly
changed.

C4-C5: Diffuse posterior disc osteophyte complex with partial effacement of
the ventral subarachnoid space. Uncovertebral and facet arthrosis. Mild
bilateral neural foraminal stenosis. AP thecal sac diameter measures 9 mm.

C5-C6: Posterior disc osteophyte complex is seen asymmetric in the midline and
to the left of the midline measuring up to 2 mm in thickness. AP thecal sac
diameter is 10 mm. Uncovertebral and facet arthrosis is seen. Moderate left and
mild right neural foraminal stenosis.

C6-C7: Mild diffuse disc bulge with uncovertebral arthropathy. Moderate right
and mild left neural foraminal stenosis.

C7-T1: No spinal canal or neural foraminal stenosis.

Cord: Normal.

Extra-vertebral soft tissues: Normal.

Visualized brain: Normal.

Additional comment: None.

IMPRESSION:

1. Multilevel degenerative disc disease appears without significant change
since 6/10/2017. This is most significant at the C3-4 level

Brief Answer:
Neck issues may relate partially with such symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor " service.

I have read your query and here is my advice.

These MRI findings of your cervical spine are consistent with multilevel degerative changes or cervical spondylosis.

It is possible for these changes to be related with pain in the shoulders, and since the pain is intermittent, instability of the cervical spine also should be considered.

Dynamic lateral x-Ray films of your cervical spine are necessary for this purpose.

Aches below the breast and scapula also may be related to spinal degerative changes, but the thoracic spine should be the location.

So, since we don't have information about the thoracic spine, we can't say for sure if degerative changes are the culprit or not.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Ok quick follow up: I know that my lumbar spine has similar issues as my cervical spine as we have done an MRI as both so is it likely that my thoracic spine would have similar issues?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
It is possible.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

It is possible for the thoracic spine to have the same degenerative changes, but this needs to be assessed by imaging studies.

If there is nerve impingement, your symptoms may be justified by these issues.

Hope I helped you.

Feel free to discuss with me if you have further questions.
