Brief Answer:
It's not related to heart.....please see the detailed answer below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and here is my advice.

GI Cocktail contains liquid antacid, lidocaine and an anticholinergic. GI cocktail is a generic name.

Most commonly used combination is Maalox (aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide i.e antacid), lidocaine (local anesthetic) and Donnatal. Lidocaine shows the soothing effect locally.

GI cocktail is usually used at ER to distinguish between cardiac related chest pain or esophageal pain due to acidity or dyspepsia.

If pain is due to indigestion and acid-reflux then the individual may get relief by GI Cocktail. Still, it should be confirmed by detailed medical examination and further basic investigations. As GI cocktail is not related to heart, so don't worry about that.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam Kale

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

As you were at the ER, so I don't think that they will charge for that since you've insurance.

As I explained earlier, individual may get relief from Indigestion by GI cocktail. It shows temporary effect locally over throat. Still you can do saline or Betadine gargles.

Hope I have answered your query. Not to worry.

Dr Shyam Kale

Brief Answer:
Consult with psychiatrist.... See detailed answer.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

As per your history, pain may be due to blunt trauma. For that you can take tablet acetaminophen. Apply diclofenac gel locally. Heating pads will also help.

For other symptoms, I would suggest you to consult with psychiatrist for detailed clinical examination and Evaluation. Treatment mainly depends upon the underlying diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know I can assist you further.
