Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service!

I understand your concern and would explain that your skeletal system is still immature and there are good chances up to the age of 25 that the situation will improve.

Anyway, all this clinical situation raises suspicions on a possible genetic disorder which affects the connective tissue like Ehler Danlos Syndrome, Marfan Syndrome and some other genetic disorders which cause hiperlaxidity of the joints and skin.

For this reason, I would recommend discussing with your attending physician on the possibility of performing some genetic tests in order to check for the above mentioned disorders.

It is also important checking vitamin D plasma levels for possible deficiency.

Regarding treatment, physiotherapy and light regular physical exercise is the main treatment to reinforce your muscles.

In case of vitamin D deficiency, Vitamin D supplements are necessary.

About my skeletal system still being immature- I grew fast. I will not grow anymore and I haven’t for three years. My clavicle grinds on the sc side and pops on both sides. This is very painful for me. It’s limited the activity that I can do without having to have my collarbone put back into place.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

Thank you for the additional information!

I agree with you on the fact that you have grown fast, but you should know that science says that growth stops at age of 25, even though the changes are not really visible.

So, there is still time for growth and the maturation of your bones.

Nevertheless, I would recommend checking vitamin D plasma levels for possible deficiency and avoiding straining physical activity, in order to avoid future injuries to your body.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Wishing all the best,
