Question: OK, I AM A 65 YEAR OLD MALE WITH EXTENDED DIARRHEA WITHOUT CAUSE BY COLONOSCOPY. I JUST UNDERWENT AN UPPER ENDOSCOPY. IT SHOWED NORMAL ESOPHAGUS, BUT THE STOMACH SHOWED ANTRAL ERYTHEMA AS PHOTOGRAPHED. THE GASTRIC pH WAS 0. RETROFLECTION IS UNREMARKABLE. BULB, SECOND,THIRD PORTIONS NORMAL. BIOPSIES WERE OBTAINED.

Brief Answer:
Swelling/inflammation in third part of stomach.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking query on this forum,
Answer is stomach is divided into four parts clinically. The third part is called antral.Erythema means inflammation.Very likely you are suffering from chronic gastritis in which all the three layers of muscles present in antral part of gut are inflammed. This is the of antral erythema.
Biopsy sample should have been taken from that are to rule out H.pylori bacteria as a cause of the erythema.
This is totally not related to loose motions and Irritable bowel syndome.

Hope I answered your query well,
