Question: Need a gynecologist to anwser a question. I have hashimotos. I started my meds 2 weeks ago again. Then i got my period. During my period my vagina ached. It felt like muscles were achy. Period ended 4 days ago and vagina still aches. In the morning the pain is a 0 or 1. As the day goes on it gets worse. The only way it feels better is laying down. It feels like im sitting on something when i sit if its bothering me. I was thinking it was prolapse of some sort but i tried taking pictures to look at it and i cant tell if the tissue is normal or not.

Brief Answer:
It seems to postmenstrual vulval irritation.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for the query...I understand your concern.
I have gone through it &also had a look at the photographs.

-Hashimoto's is low thyroid condition...causes dryness of vulva(the outer part of the vagina)..because of hormonal imbalance makes it more prone to get irritated & inflamed /infected resulting in pain & uniform swelling of the part.

Simple irritation of the skin because of vaginal pads used during periods of hormonal imbalance can result in such dry vagina to cause the symptoms...

Sometimes vulval skin / mucous membrane can get secondarily infected (fungal, bacterial or viral)- creating discharge &other symptoms (severe itching &milky while discharge in fungal infection /burning or painful urination with yellowish, greenish discharge in bacterial infection /cauliflower-like papillary growths in hpv.)

*Since you didn't mention any of such discharge nor the picture does not reveal any discharge or papillary lesion on the part....you seem to have a simple irritation of vulval skin &mucus membrane following vaginal irritation by sanitary towels used while in menstruation.

*Home Management like keeping the part clean with warm water washes,/using more soft pads if needed/application of skin softeners mixed with antibiotic or antifungal ointment /drinking lot of cold water/taking over the counter anti-inflammatory pill orally (like Ibuprofen) along with your Thyroid supplements advised by your doctor, would help.

*In case of no relief within 2 days of home care...you should get examined&investigated to pinpoint possible infection followed by specific antibiotic treatment.

Please consult with your gynecologist about this.
Any follow up query is welcome.
Thanks
