Brief Answer:
Please do a Covid-19 RT PCR swab test.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Loss of smell and taste is one of the known symptoms of Covid-19 infection. It will be prudent to do a Covid-19 RT-PCR swab test to rule out Covid-19 infection first, especially as there is a history of fever last week.

2. As per the present experience, cases of Covid-19 with loss of smell and taste tend to be mild. The sense of smell and taste usually recovers in 3 to 6 weeks.

3. It is also possible that an influenza, cold, allergy and many other conditions can cause this, however in the current situation, you should rule out Covid-19 infection. Kindly remember that a negative test does not rule out Covid-19. Hence use of N95 masks, basic isolation, distancing and sanitation should be followed.

4. After the Covid-19 report, further management can be discussed. Please upload the report here as soon as it is available.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
