Brief Answer:
Fat pad atrophy and tarsal tunnel syndrome to consider.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor " service.

I have read your query and here is my advice.

Fat pad atrophy is a common condition that may cause pain and atrophy on the ball of the foot as we age.

Tarsal tunnel syndrome is another condition to consider in such cases.

I would say that it is necessary to get evaluated clinically by your Doctor and by nerve conduction study in order to understand better your condition.

Tarsal tunnel syndrome is treated surgically, fat pad atrophy is treated with adjustments such as avoiding high heels, use of paddings to allow even distribution of the weight and pressure, platelet rich plasma injections, etc.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.
