My Son Told Me He Was Raped By A Doctor
Question: My son told me he was raped by a doctor when he was kept against his will in a psychiatric ward and recently he has developed some kind of disassociative disorder . I believe he was intentionally targeted and harmed in awful ways because I had complained about the doctor while he was in the hospital because he gave him high doses of medications even though I had told him he had previous adverse reactions to it. Is there anything I can do to help him on my own because he seems to be under some kind of strange trance like states at times and I believe he did some kind of hypnosis on him because he comes in and out of it. He refuses to go the a doctor and I really could use some help. I also believe this doctor has a dark history of doing such things to other patients as I contacted one who had told me that although he didnt remember fully what had happened, he believed that they had physically hurt him while he was in there.
I would also like to add that the person who was a previous patient there was the white house fence jumper and he told me he didnt remember doing it and I believe there is something sinister going on at the hospital that is involved.
Brief Answer:
Hello, welcome to ask a doctor services.
Detailed Answer:
Hello, Welcome to ask a doctor services. I have read your question.
I am sorry to hear about the entire episode that has left your son strangely bewildered and traumatized. The doctor's act is wrong and disgusting.
However, this is the time to concentrate on your son and help him come out of depression, emotional problems or distress he has developed after exposure to the event.
He is suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. You will have to keep patience and give him time to recover. He may feel detached from the mind and body.
Do not force him to see a doctor as he has lost confidence in them rather stay affectionate to him and as a family give him quality time.
Let him stay in a comfortable room, play some good music or give him his favorite food or fruit. He may be unable to relax, do everything to help him get relaxed.
He may get the feeling of being, less of a man. You should encourage and praise him for being a wonderful son. Help him get out of the guilt and shame that he may find difficult to recover from.
Avoid talking about the incident, never ask details as it may worsen the distress he is going through.
He needs to be counselled & go through physical therapy. Never leave him alone with any type of medical staff. Some family member should be seated with him always.
CBT, cognitive behavioral therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing may help.
He may need some medicines initially for healing of any physical injury & anti depressants to help him recover faster. You can consult a health care provider.
Do not let him depend on medicine. Encourage him to healthy eating & healthy lifestyle.
Do not ask him too many questions but be a good listener. Encourage him to talk more so that the pain comes out. Talk therapy works. Assure him that you and his family are there for him always.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any other query, I am there for you. Take care.
