My Question Is About What Is Considered The Short Axis

default
Posted on Sun, 16 Jun 2019
Question: My question is about what is considered the short axis of a neck lymph node. I had an ultrasound done on a lymph node in the upper left back part of my neck. It measured 0.7 by 0.2 by 0.6 CM. It feels tall and thin. I'm guessing the 0.7 is height, 0.2 is width, and 0.6 is depth. I've read that if the ratio of the long to short axis is 2 or greater, that is a sign it is probably benign. Is the 0.2 or the 0.6 considered the short axis? Is the short axis always the smallest of the three dimensions?
