Question: My neurologist, Dr. Shah, recommended I take magnesium daily after an EMG test that showed I had "slow neurons" which cause me aching and pins and needles in legs and feet. I forgot to ask him which is the best type of magnesium to get for my issue and the nervous system in general since I see there are several types of magnesium. Which would u recommend?

Brief Answer:
Magnesium malate or citrate are my first choices

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for coming to HealthcareMagic.

As you have noticed there are many magnesium supplement types out there. While there are minor differences their effects do overlap somewhat so most would do the job just fine. However if I were to recommend a more specific type I would recommend magnesium malate or citrate for your peripheral nerve issues. Magnesium L-threonate is another favorite of mine when it comes to nervous system in general, but I recommend it more to improve cognition rather than peripheral nerve issues.

I hope to have been of help.
