Question: My mother is 93 years old and her blood pressure is 153/76. She is on metoporol and amlodopine.

I understand your concern and would explain that her blood pressure values are above the normal ranges.

For this reason, I would recommend increasing the dose of amlodipine ( up to 10mg daily if she is taking a lowe dose) or add another antihypertensive drug to her current therapy in order to help lower blood pressure values.

In this regard, I would recommend adding an ACEI (lisinopril, ramipril) or an ARB ( valsartan, olmesartan)

You should discuss with her doctor on the above treatment options.

I would also recommend reducing salt intake.
