Brief Answer:
It could be due to Infection of the gut

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description,it could be Infection of the gut caused by intake of contaminated food or water.
Loose motions can be due to Bacterial infection or Amoebiasis.Loperamide(Eldoper)is a anti motility drug.Metrogyl is useful in Amoebiasis. If the infection is due to Bacteria,he needs an Antibiotic like Rifaximine 200mg twice daily.I prefer him to take Rifaximine and Metronidazole as he is travelling.
Oral rehydration Solution scahets will be helpful.
Nothing to worry.
It will come down.
Please consult a Doctor and get appropriate prescription.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions,I will clarify further.
Wish him good health and speedy recovery
