default
Posted on Sun, 7 Aug 2022
Question: My aunt is 84 years old and has been diagnosed with stomach cancer. I am attaching a copy of her paperwork because the doctor is telling her to do radiation. A Pet Test was performed and showed the cancer is located in the intestines now so I would like to know what are her options? She still lives alone and drives everyday etc. should changing her diet help etc? Please be brutally honest and brutal with your response. Please look at the reports and advise accordingly.

Brief Answer:
Start with radiation

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your query.

I would recommend starting with radiation. Usually intestinal cancers are operated and resected. Initially they are exposed to radiation aiming to reduce the size and confirm the same with PET scan and then decide whether to be resected based on size and invasion into the surrounding structures.

In cases where surgery is not indicated, chemotherapy can be an option of consideration.

Hope, I answered your query

Wish her good health,

regards,
