My Sister Has Been Recently Diagnosed With Lung Cancer .

Question: My Sister has been recently diagnosed with Lung Cancer. The doctors at the place (Visakhapatnam) where she is consulting have suggested Chemotherapy of 8 doses.
Doctors did not mention the stage or severity in any of the consultation sessions. But in one of their reports they mentioned as Stage 4 and Liver in brackets....So we are a bit confused as of now..
I would like to know if the treatment is going in right direction and if the stage is 4 how severe is it? and does she need a surgery or any other treatment as well?
I have all the reports for the same but there is no option to upload those to this portal. So, please also let me know how I can send over the Biopsy reports etc.

Brief Answer:
Liver spread is at stage 4

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.

I understand your concerns. You can definitely upload all the reports here. If you face any difficulty then you can send them to the customer care email too. Those will help us to guide you better.

As of now, I can say that liver spread is stage 4. Chemotherapy is the cornerstone of treatment and the goal is to control the disease only, as it is incurable. Surgery doesn't help much but targeted therapy and immunotherapy can also be considered depending on specific tests done on the biopsy.

Hope this helps.
Regards

Brief Answer:
Yes overall right direction

Detailed Answer:
However, there's no report like CT or pet scan to confirm the stage.

We also recommend alk and ros testing in addition to egfr. If they are positive, then oral drug is available. If patient can afford immunotherapy that can be added to chemo as well.

Brief Answer:
CT chest only provided

Detailed Answer:
Whole body pet ct or CT abdomen report not provided, without which I can't say anything about liver spread.

If you have it please upload. Chemotherapy regimen seems appropriate for the condition.
