Question: My Dr. was pleased with my recent echocardiagram . The results were generally good with a couple of %E2%80%9Ctrace%E2%80%9D regurgitations at the mitral valve, pulmonic and %E2%80%9Cmild%E2%80%9D regurg at tricuspid as well as mild pulmonary hypertension with rvsp 36 mmhg. I am a 63 y o man and I%E2%80%99m trying to figure out my doctors thought process. He even took me off my amlodipine as I have lost 40 pounds and my bp was dipping towards the low range. Left and Right Atriums and ventricles are normal. Mild aortic schlerosis without stenosis and no vegetations, thrombus or masses seen and pericardium is normal. Please give me your thoughts re this data and my cardiologists upbeat demeanor.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service!

I passed carefully through your question and agree with your doctor that these echocardiogram findings are not concerning about anything serious.

Periodical follow up with cardiac ultrasound after 12 months is necessary.

I agree with your doctor also on the decision on reducing amlodipine dose, as long as your blood pressure values are low, because this drug's main action is on blood pressure values.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Wishing all the best,
