Brief Answer:
Hello, welcome to ask a doctor services.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, welcome to ask a doctor services. I have read your question.

You are suffering from mucus formation in your nose. The body produces more than a litre of mucus every day, whether you’re healthy or fighting off a cold, that's normal.

However, if the body forms more mucus than mentioned it is due to allergies, infections(bacterial, viral, fungal) or sinus problems like deviated nasal septum, nasal inflammation, hypertrophy of the turbinate, nasal polyps, URTI, etc.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT, get required allergy tests, blood tests, imaging tests done to detect nasal septal deviation, nasal polyp, turbinate hypertrophy, etc that needs to be take care of immediately and treated.

Your treatment will depend on the diagnosis made, conservative treatment will be given and surgery will be recommended by the treating doctor only if required.

In the meantime, you should avoid dust, pollen, animal dander, strong smell, pollution, and exposure to direct sunlight. Avoid going outdoors in a hot day.

Stay adequately hydrated, take water and fluids. Use a room humidifier so that the air in the room does not trigger dryness of your nasal mucosa. Nasal irrigation may help. Take steam inhalation so that the mucous flows out clearing the nasal passages.

Saline nasal drops are helpful. Steam inhalation and taking decongests are effective. In case of symptoms due to allergy you can take a non sedating antihistamine like Fexofenadine -180 once in a day for 3-5 days for relieve. Before taking medicines get clinically evaluated.

Expectorants containing mucolytics(Bromhexine) will enable to breathe freely. Gargle with warm saline water at least 2 times a day. Eat right kind of food, food that will keep you hydrated.

Dry air increases the nasal mucus production by irritating the nose and throat. Moisturizing & use of a room humidifier will reduce the dryness of the air and it will also thin the snot. You will keep fine.

Stay away from addictions if any. Hope I have answered your question. Take care.
