Kindly Guide Me What Medicines To Take ? I Am Currently Taking Gaviscon Syp Before Meal. For Burning Sensation?

Question: So i was having meal, food had gotten extremely hot, and rather than spitting it out, i swallowed it immediately. After swallowing, i felt a burning sensation down my entire throat for almost an hour. After that it relieved on its own. But now when i try eating anything spicy (even though mild in nature), i develop this burning sensation along the whole esophageal tract. Now that burning sensation is limited to xiphisternum only and is always there when i eat anything spicy. Kindly guide me what medicines to take ? I am currently taking gaviscon syp before meal.

Brief Answer:
Gastritis possibly

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

As per your queries answer is-
As the onset in your case is acute(one-day history) Most likely cause of gastritis is due to either heated and spicy food. The esophagus is lined with mucosa which when get breached due to hot food or spices get inflamed causing pain.

Take a proton pump inhibitor like Esomeprazole along with a prokinetic drug (eg.Domperidone). This will provide you symptomatic relief from symptoms and would help mucosa to heal up fast. (you may need to obtain a prescription for this from your local physician).

Antacid like Pepto Bismol can be taken for a few days along with it.
Take light and spiceless diet for the time being.

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
No use of taking suboptimal doses

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Its too low a dose - won't help.
Take the medicine in doses as suggested by me; you can even make esomeprazole 80 mg in morning and 40 mg in night.
Suboptimal doses won't help.
