Question: I've had pain that radiates from my groin (right side) to my lower right stomach. I've had this for weeks, the pain comes and goes. The pain isn't that strong but feels more like a discomfort. I went to the doctor and they checked for a hernia but didn't find anything.

Brief Answer:
Take Ibuprofen 400 mg twice daily for 3-5 days.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for choosing "Ask a Doctor" service for your query,
Have seen your details,
The very likely cause of pain in your case can be either-
1)Hernia- Already ruled out by treating consultant.
2)Sprain-Inflammation on tendons, ligaments or muscles may cause pain off and on in nature with mild intesity(more often a sort of discomfort) as explained by you.
By book we should go for a MRI of the area.As only MRI helps to find out inflammation along the ligaments or tendon or a soft tissue. Its the test of choice,However an easy way out is to take any over the counter anti inflammatory for 3 to 5 days and see if the discomfort settles down.
You can take Ibuprofen 400 mg twice daily(Over the counter).
If discomfort responds to it very likely it's a soft tissue injury. In case of no improvement MRI should be done to rule out further problems.
Hope I was helpful,

Thank you.
