I've Had Chronic Low Back Pain For About 3 Years
I have had an xray which showed minor scoliosis but more mid-back. My first dr. wanted me to get an MRI because he suspected ankylosing spondylitis due to family history, waking me up at night, and the fact that it is really stiff for a couple hours when I get up, but he retired before I could get it set up. My current primary doctor thinks I just pulled a muscle or something, so she hasnt ordered testing. I did see a back specialist but he was convinced I had hurt myself at work, even though I didnt start working until a year after symptoms start. Also, I have both injured muscles and bones before, and to me it feels a lot more like bone than muscle.
In my opinion it is ancylospondylitis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I don't think this is related to injury since it gets better by itself without treatment and doesn't last for so long of three years.
The scoliosis is mild and usually in low and moderate grades it doesn't give pain.
In my opinion you may be suffering from spondylitis, arthritis, inflammation of the spine and hip joint.
Chronic inflammation at that area gives pain, stiffness and is generally inherited by parents.
It is not much related to trauma, injury, position, activities or muscle strain.
I can advise you to do an MRI to check it.
The treatment consists of antinflamatory to reduce pain and inflammation. Ibuprofen or naproxen can be used.
Hope I have answered the question.
