Itchy Fluid Filled Blisters Appeared On Inner Thigh And Skin Started Getting Darker. Herpes?

Question: Hi,

To start off with i'm not sexually active and 6 days ago I was working and sitting down at my computer in a hot room wearing tight jeans that hardly fit me and no underwear. I could tell in my groin and thigh areas it was getting hot/sticky and sometimes itchy, I only had 3/4 of a cup in a period of 20hrs. I read on some forums that staying hydrated helps with chafing and blisters because if you dont it could cause salt crystals that turn into fungus and create blister.
Well when i finished work I went back to the hotel room and saw 4 large blisters on my groin that were tender and so easy to pop, it was clear fluid and just where the groin meets the inner thigh from rubbing i saw 2 big blisters with the same tender blister that was easy to pop with clear fluid. the blister did not hurt at all it was very easy to peel off, and it seemed like it was filled with water. not yellow or even crusty.

on my right side i had the same thing 2 medium sized blisters on the groin section and darker skin on my inner thigh that looked like a blister was going to start.
blisters ranged from sizes 3mm up to 12mm
now my questions are;

is this some kind of herpes?
Does herpes usually mirror the spot on where it started? i.e. if its on the groin does it easily spread in the same location as where my thigh meets the groin in the exact same spot and then on opposite side of the leg does it do the same?
Does genital herpes just affect that one area that was rubbed against?

how long does a genital herpes outbreak last for as the way mine happend i noticed a simple itch(because i was sitting in tight area/small seat where my legs and groin kept rubbing/touching) 14hrs later went to the hotel room , popped the blisters and now they are sores or patches of red sores, 6 days later now they are just pinkish looking like they area healing. i read on webmd that the blisters break a few days and become painful.
in my case it was probably hours after sitting for so long i just popped them very easy.
the sores aren't painful at all only when i took a bar of soap and put it on it, just a stinging feeling like any other wound.

the thing that worried me is that my dr wanted to swab it for herpes but I don't think it is or i hope its not.

i think what i might be having is chafing or some kind of friction fungus problem. I do recall now that my urine was very very yellow or orange because all i had was coffee and 3/4 of a cup of water in over a day. When I did go to the washroom i do recall some urine getting on my groin or inner thigh.
i have attached 2 pictures, the picture named sc is the lesion or area where the blisters were on. The picture named thigh is on the inner thigh area.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
Ive gone through the history and photos uploaded.
The Sc named picture is not clear and better image will be more informative.

The lesions however are not suggestive of herpes or fungal infection.
More likely they appear to be friction blisters.
Herpes usually does not cause such large blisters/lesions.
Avoid more friction at the site.
Do not wear undergarments at night.Keep the area aerated .
Use absorbant powder daily.
Apply topical antibiotic cream like TBACT cream once daily.
If you want to rule out herpes, IgG & IgM antibody in blood for herpes 1 and herpes 2 needs to be tested.
Also I would like to know-
Is there any fever?
Is there any enlarged glands in groin?
Have you had such problem in the past?

As of now it does not appear to be herpes .
I will be available for follow up.

Thanks for the follow up,

I've had no fever, and the dr checked for enlarged glands in the groin and its all fine.
Never had this problem except for a small pimple like when i was 23 0r 24 but i think it was more of jock itch or from working out a lot or running. I don't recall as it was so long ago.
When it comes to genital herpes how large are the blisters?
i will take a picture right now and post it.
I have taken another picture of the left side of the scrotum, and thigh and the right side of my scrotum.

does genital herpes only start on one side of the scrotum or does it happen on both sides. I do agree that i am now starting to think that this is a cause of friction.
But does friction create these water blisters?

i've had no lower back pain
no fever
no enlarged lumps in the groin
the symptom started 5 days ago on saturday and now the sores are clearing up and they are not itchy at all or not even hurting.
i looked up Bulla and it does sound like what i could have. i saw some pictures on the internet on bulla.

thanks you are making me feel a lot better.

Hi again,
Bulla is a general term for any fluid filled skin cavity.so it is correct that you have got bullas that too friction induced bulla.
As there are no associated symptoms herpes is unlikely. A course of topical and oral antibiotic is warranted.
Hope this helps .
I will be available for follow up.
