Brief Answer:
Yes, it can be used for this!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this purpura. Yes, Vit K1 is essential in production of clotting factors. As such, if the purpura is caused by a problem with production of clotting factors, Vit K1 will be of great help. If the cause is rather related to platelet malfunctioning, then it will make no change.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Above all, thanks for using our services.

So if Vitamin K1 has no effect on the purpura one would suspect platelet malfunction? How long would you have to take the Vitamin K1supplement to tell if it was having an effect? If the supplement has no effect should I see a hematologist?

Brief Answer:
For how long have you had purpura!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

If Vit K1 fails to improve this, then we would have to look at other possible causes of which platelet malfunction is one of them. However, I will suggest that you get a comprehensive evaluation for blood clotting profile so that we can see whether any of these is related to that.

I wish you well and hope to hear from you!

I had it several years ago and it cleared up with increased multivitamins and use of arnica cream or gel. At that time the bleeding and blotches were caused by minor touching of my arms to whatever surface. It has only recently returned this year and seems to occur without external causes. Arnica helpsslightly but does not cure the blotches entirely. For follow up should I approach my internist first before seeking a specialist such as a dermatologist?
