Is Tingling Sensation In The Scalp Indicative Of Fungal Infection?

default
Posted on Wed, 17 May 2017
Question: I got fingernail fungus from a nail salon and am concerned it may have transferred to my hair/ scalp. I'm not noticing anything major except a tingling sensation in my scalp sometimes that occurred before. Should I be using a medicated shampoo or something? I was using tea tree oil and oregano oil to treat my fingernails but recently bought Fungix to try. The infection is not very major and my nails look normal unless inspected up close. Just the tips remain infected. Is there a fast more efficient way to get ride of the fungus without dangerous side effects?

Brief Answer:
Ketoconazole shampoo, oral and topical antifungals can be tried

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic
I have gone through your complaints complaints.
Usually fungal infection of the scalp hair doesn't occur in adults.
If you are having tingling sensation in your scalp I would recommend you to use a ketoconazole shampoo twice weekly.
For nail fungal infection oral antifungals are most effective.
You can go for tablet terbinafine 250 mg daily or capsule itraconazole 200 mg daily for 6 weeks.
Alternatively you can try topical antifungals like amorolphine nail lacquer once in a week.
These are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
