Is There Interaction Between Phenergan And Hydrocodone?

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Jun 2016
Question: I just took a half a tablet of phenergan due to nausea( I have a huge fear of throwing up). Issue is I took hydrocodone about 4 hour ago for pain related to pinched nerve ? Is it ok to take full pill of phenergan if I still feel ? Will half a tablet work? Will the 2 drugs mixed together cause trouble ? Thanks

Brief Answer:
Half tablet will not work, take full dose if your wieght is more than 60 kg.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.

I have read your query and understand the concern.

Taking half tablet of phenergan (25 mg) will not be much effective especially in person whose weight is more than 60 kg.

So,you can take the full dose of this phenergan tablet if you still have nausea.

Tablet ondasetron 4mg (brand name: Emeset or zofran) is also very good and safe alternative to phenergan for your feeling of nausea. You can try this over the counter drug which is quite safe also.

As you have already taken hydrocodone, you can also take phenergan since there is NO know drug interactions between these two drugs.

One thing is to keep in mind that these both drugs may cause mild sedation,so while taking them simultaneously, they both may increase sedative effect but it is NOT harmful.

Hope this helps and let me know if you need more help.
