Is There Interaction Between Klonopin, Zoloft And Alcohol?

default
Posted on Fri, 15 Jul 2016
Question: I am prescribed 3 mg of klonopin a day and 150 mg of zoloft. I work night shift. I took 2 mg of klonopin at about 9pm yesterday then 1 mg at 530 am this morning then half a mg at 9 am. I went golfing with my father in law at about 930 am this morning and had one beer at around noon. Is that combination gonna kill me. Am I at risk of death? Im 30 year old W/M.

Brief Answer:
Should be avoided.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.

This kind of combination should ideally be avoided as it poses you risk of extreme sedation and seizures.

Since you have consumed one beer only so it's unlikely to be lethal but repeated exposures can be lethal someday directly or indirectly by causing excessive drowsiness and some sort of accidental injury.

I would recommend you to drink plenty of water and go to sleep in presence of your family member.
If they see any abnormality while you sleep, they should take you to ER.

Don't take any dose of Klonopin now and skip your next dose also.

I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
I wish for you a Healthy life.

Shouldnt the one beer be out of my system already seeing how I had it over three and a half hours ago therefore not creating a risk for today .

Brief Answer:
Unlikely.

Detailed Answer:
Hi. It won't be out by Noe but still it's effect must have diminished by now and I also don't see any significant risk and so didn't ask you to rush to ER.
You can have a peaceful sleep.
Take care.
