Is There Any Non-surgical Treatment For Ganglion?

default
Posted on Tue, 22 Sep 2015
Question: Hello,
I had a swelling on my left hand just a little above the wrist (with my palm facing downwards). As per the doctor it is a ganglion. it does not hamper my day to day activities but pains if I apply pressure on my palm and try to get up. What should be the way ahead? Would i require a surgery? Is any non-surgical treatment possible?
Secondly, will this ganglion keep on growing or will remain of the current size it is.

Brief Answer:
Ganglion requires surgery only if causing problem to you

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

Thanks for the query.

Ganglion is a collection of fluid within the tendon sheath of arising from the wrist joint.

It is not at all harmful.

Surgery can be done only if it is hampering your daily activities.

The Ganglion can grow in size upto a certain limit but if it is causing problem in your daily activities then you can opt for surgery.

Threading is another option to cause resolution of the cyst. It is done in OPD setting with a silk suture.

There is no non-surgical treatment possible.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Thanking you.
