Dear Ms XXXXXXX
Its quite common to see respiratory tract infection in children. Its usually cause by virus. According to my clinical policy , I do not recommend use of antibiotics.
In children especially infants (less than 1 years of age) when there is respiratory there could be associated airway hyper reactivity which could induce bronchospasm. So many of the Pediatricians empirically use Theophylline which is a bronchodilator which is useful in management of respiratory infection in children. Theophylline is also beneficial in asthma management. Mox Clave is an antibiotic. These medicine are safe in children and there is no cause for concern.

Thank you very much!
Whenever there is infection like this, any home remedies are there instead of giving medicines? Currently I am giving her kadha of Tulsileaves, Khadi Shakkar, Dalchini and velchi, as I hear noise from her nose.
Also We had given the vaccination to our baby DPT & HEp B I,II,III & OPV. But HIB and IPV are not given. I went thru website and saw that HIB & IPV I, II, III to be given before 6 months. Now she has completed 6 months. So how to go for it?
Are these vaccinations are necessary? Can we give Booster at 1.5 years old? Does she suffer from cough & cold due to not taking of vaccinations?
Brief Answer:
HIB vaccine is recommended
Detailed Answer:
Namasthe
Greetings
Vaccines provide protection to that particular disease and protect against that particular disease.
Repiratory infection is quite common in children and is due to non specific viral infection. In my clinical practise , i do not recommend any medication.
I ask the mothers to give the following
1. Nasoclear (normal saline) nasal drops
2. Decoction: To a cup of milk + 2- Tulsi leaves + 1 small spoon turmeric+ 2 gm ginger + 4 black pepper + 1 spoon sugar . Bring it to boil , filter it and feed the baby warm.
In national immunization schedule Injectable polio vaccine(IPV) is not recommended . Giving oral polio vaccine is sufficient. HIB can be given even after 6 months till 10 months of age(catch up immunization). Booster is to be given at 1.5 years of age HIB is definitely necessary vaccine.
SII(Serum institute of india) HIB Pro vaccine is available, two doses given 1 month apart can be given. Booster given at 1.5 year of age.
