Brief Answer: Need more information Detailed Answer: Hi. Thanks for the query. Before I can give a specific answer I need some more details. When was the colon cancer removed. How many lesions are there in the liver now. Liver mets in a patient with colon cancer means the disease is now in stage IV. However liver mets in colon cancer can sometimes be cured in 25% of cases. Please provide me the above information. If you can upload the reports, it would be useful. Thanks once again.

The surgery was at the end of February. There are several lesions. Days after he began to have fever spikes which last about an hour, followed by chills. After the fever breaks he feels a little better. His has a problem eating, nothing is appealing. Also, his urine is dark in color. His blood count dropped extremely low and he had to have 3 units of blood. This was three days ago. He is scheduled to begin cemo on Tues. Will he be able to withstand the cemo in this weakened state?

Brief Answer: May neef dose reduction Detailed Answer: Hi. thanks for the prompt reply. If there are multiple lesions, surgery is not an option. Only your treating medical oncologist can tell you whether he can withstand chemotherapy as it is very difficult to say without examining the patient. Giving filgastrim injections along with chemotherapy will reduce the chance of blood counts falling down. Sometimes the dose might need reduction. If he still not able to withstand chemotherapy, oral medications, such as Capecitabine alone can be given but it is not very effective when given alone. Also multiple lesions carry a poor prognosis.
