Is The Constant Urge To Urinate A Symptom Of Prostate Or Bladder Infection?

default
Posted on Thu, 26 Oct 2023
Question: It always feels like I need to urinate, even after I've just urinated. Urine is clear, light yellow, no blood or cloudiness. No fever, just some pressure and that urge/feeling that never really goes away. I am a male, aged 55. I have also recently had several groin boils/abscesses. Self treated, no antibiotics. Prostate or bladder infection?

This has only been going on strong now for about 48 hrs

Brief Answer:
infection is a possible cause, would need antibiotics

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

It is possible that the urgency or frequency of urination is due to an infection, that is one of the more common causes for an acute/recent onset change.

Though there are no changes with the urine as yet, an infection can still be brewing but the only way to determine this would be to have your urine assessed by urinalysis.

This can be done at your doctor's office.

If an infection is confirmed, then antibiotics would be needed. You would also need to drink a lot of water to clear the bacteria. Cranberry products also help sometimes as well.

Some of the other causes would include-(1)prostate enlargement but you would normally have other symptoms
(2)stone in the urinary tract- again causes other symptoms such as pain and sometimes blood in the urine
(3)side effect of medication
(4)high blood sugar

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
