Question: Is surgery necessary for diabetic foot ulcers?
how long it takes toheal the wound is it possible to heal the wound only by medicines whether the wound leads to amputation

Dear Friend, welcome to HCM. I understand your concern. You still have chance to cure the ulcer medically. You need to start insulin. Adjust the dose according to the fasting and post prondial sugar levels. You need regular wound care may require the help of a surgical clinic. Regular dressing, hygeinic care till it heals. You need to avoid all junk food take more of green leafy vegetables, fiber rich diet. You need more of nuts, sprouts, millets which provides good amount of minerals to you. Not a bad idea to take mineral supplements with a prescription from your treating doctor . take very little carbohydrates and more of proteins. Avoid stress practice meditation. Patient takes Humalogmix insulin 25/75 18 units in the morning and Lantus insulin 20 units in the night. wound opened and abscess removed a month back.Wound is now reddish all over(inner layer..not the outer skin) and remains moist.Wound doesnt look dry.Physician says it is the sign of new tissue growth and healing.Is it so?
