Is Surgery Advisable For A Growing Skin Tag On The Neck?

Question: hi my husband got a skin tag in neck.it was a very small tag but increased due to his gold chain. We have consulted a dermatologist but they told it is not a tag and asked to condult a surgeon. Please find the picture and let me know what it is and what treatment is needed.

The possibilities are:
Sebaceous cyst
Sesile papiloma

Please get this operated for the following reasons:
- This is not a normal part of the body hence excision allows the removal of an abnormal part of the body.
- The removed part gives the Histo-pathology diagnosis so that if benign one gets rid of the abnormality and gets perfect diagnosis.

It is better to be removed for the reasons as mentioned above. Why to keep such lump and wait for any complication to occur like infection or so and I am sure your husband would like to wear the chain.
